Behind the scenes at our Daily Telegraph shoot

Space A were delighted to stage our ‘House by the Sea’ project for a feature in the Daily Telegraph.

Published in August 2023, the double-page spread focused on the renovation of Amelia’s much-loved family holiday home in Anglesey, Wales.

The inspiration for the design ranged from the surrounding coastal textures to the array of vintage prints and patterns littering the original house, originally re-decorated in the 1960s.

A mish-mash of nostalgic, contemporary and vintage – the palette was arranged to be idiocentric - inspired by the family history in the area plus the house and area context.

Sea tones and textures –from mustard yellow lichens, mottled grey rocks, soft blue-grey pebbles, splashes of ‘safety red’ and a gradient of sea tones were our starting point. These were then juxtapositioned with inspirations from the family history and objects in the house.

On the shoot day we aimed to capture a day-in-the-life of a colourful, relaxed (and slightly whacky) British sea-side holiday.
