In Conversation with Pooky

At Space A, creativity thrives on collaboration, empathy and a shared passion for design. As we return to our studio after a good break over the festive season, we are revisiting our interview with Pooky to shed light on our design ethos, revisit our inspirations, and reflect on the journey that brought the team together.

Design is more than aesthetics—it's about creating spaces that tell stories, evoke emotions, and stand the test of time. At Space A, this philosophy comes to life through a thoughtful and collaborative approach that balances empathy, materiality, and the interplay of heritage and modernity.

In our conversation with Pooky, we share the inspirations and values that guide our work. Our vision revolves around designing with intention—prioritising the needs of people, the unique characteristics of materials, and the deep respect for the history embedded in spaces.

Empathy lies at the heart of the studio’s process. Each project begins with a deep understanding of the people who will inhabit the space, ensuring the design feels personal, functional, and meaningful. This sensitivity extends to their use of materials, embracing textures, finishes, and craftsmanship that enhance the tactile and visual experience of a space.

A defining aspect of Space A's work is the ability to bridge the past and present. By reimagining traditional forms and weaving them into modern contexts, we create designs that honour the rich narratives of heritage whilst looking towards the future.
